April RaQuel, the up & coming South Florida #RaQStar, is multi-talented singer, songwriter, model and accomplished woman, with a well-rounded portfolio of credits in the entertainment industry. April brings #Soul, #Funk and #Fierce #Fashion to her artistry along with her extremely talented band Kouture Funk.

As a singer, April’s distinctive, soulful voice and energy is like no other. When she enters the stage, she owns it.

 

SINGER

April Raquel’s powerful and captivating voice holds its own merit which allows her to dominate a lane that is all hers. As a performer, April lights up the stage with her fiery presence and commands the attention of the room. A solid vocalist, you can feel her soulful and RaQ inner diva.  It is evident that she displays an impressive range and depth. April RaQuel is much more than a studio singer; she has the ability to mesmerize crowds with her vocal styling and unmatched exuberance.

April’s self-proclaimed musical style is Urban, Rock, Soul, Funk. Her musical influences are: Tina Turner, Chaka Khan, MC Lyte, Pat Benatar, Aretha Franklin and Beyoncé.

MODEL

She was a featured model in the music videos “I Like the Way You Move” and “Hey Ya!” for the multi-platinum, international hit group, Outkast. Additionally, April has posed for national advertising campaigns for beauty and lifestyle brands.

BACKGROUND

April began her career on stage as a model/entertainer during her matriculation as a standout student at Florida A&M University as a member of The Epicurean Fashion Experience! It was that taste of life in the spotlight that flourished into a pursuit of the arts and performing. Her onstage spark was also ignited in theatre productions in her portrayal of the enigmatic and incomparable Tina Turner in the stage production, Ebony Lipstick in Tallahassee, FL.

Immediately after school, April honed her modeling skills in Los Angeles, California, and successfully landed tv, film and music video roles. Her credits include on-screen appearances in the motion picture “Hair Show,” starring Academy Award nominated actresses, Mo’Nique and Taraji P. Henson. She teamed up with the Golden Globe winner, Mo’Nique again with her appearance in the hit sitcom “The Parkers.”  Additionally, April RaQuel has appeared in numerous television commercials, including spots for Time Life Body & Soul Collection and Luster’s Pink Hair Lotion. April RaQuel eventually settled back home in South Florida where her music and artistry have flourished. Her unique gifts continued to shine as she also starred in the leading role as “Deena Jones” in the South Florida regional production of “Dreamgirls”, a Kevin Black Production. Currently, April and her band, Kouture Funk, have a weekly residency on Miami Beach at the famed Ocean’s Ten as well as a monthly standing performance in Palm Beach Gardens’ Dirty Martini. She also performs regularly at venues across the country & internationally, as well as writing and releasing new music.
